A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-128-1-5p is one of the top 20 most abundant known miRNAs in the thymus and is differentially expressed in response to ionizing radiation [Chen et al. DOI:10.1080/09553002.2016.1207821]. In humans, the miR-128-1-5p was identified as upregulated in sepsis compared to septic shock [Li et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-025-89946-6]. In human aortic endothelial cells, the miR-128-1-5p was identified as a 0 Gy marker that could differentiate unirradiated samples from those exposed to X-ray doses between 1-10 Gy at the 24-hour post-radiation time point [Chopra et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-24051-6].
