Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-625-3p was significantly increased (5.053-fold) in pericardial-fluid-derived exosomes from acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients compared to controls, identifying it as a potential biomarker for postmortem AMI diagnosis [Kim et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms25179619]. Another human study investigating recurrent myocardial infarction risk after percutaneous coronary intervention found the mir-625-3p was upregulated in both whole blood and plasma of patients with recurrent events, showing concordant and significant differential expression across sample types and associating it with cholesterol levels [Onuoha et al. DOI:10.1111/cts.13307]. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-625-3p is upregulated in postischemic left ventricular myocardium following cardioplegic arrest during cardiac surgery [Saddic et al. DOI:10.1152/physiolgenomics.00049.2015].
