A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-638 was significantly up-regulated (4.11-fold) in denatured dermis from deep burn patients compared to paired normal skin [Liang et al. DOI:10.1016/j.burns.2011.10.014]. Another study in humans found that serum levels of the mir-638 were significantly upregulated in patients with mild traumatic brain injury at baseline following injury, with its expression progressively reducing at 24 and 48 hours, and it was also differentially expressed between mTBI patients and those with other injuries [Polito et al. DOI:10.1007/s11033-020-05386-7].
