Forensic Context

A study in humans undergoing cardiac surgery demonstrated that miR-642a-5p was significantly upregulated (4.78-fold) in postischemic left ventricular myocardium compared to baseline [Saddic et al. DOI:10.1152/physiolgenomics.00049.2015]. In a separate investigation of human postmortem prefrontal cortex, miR-642a-5p was found to be upregulated (1.89-fold) in subjects with schizophrenia compared to non-psychiatric controls [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0086469].
