A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-6756-5p was not identified as a differentially expressed microRNA in whole blood or plasma from patients with coronary artery disease and was not part of the validated four-miRNA panel for forensic body fluid identification [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2016.01.018][Onuoha et al. DOI:10.1111/cts.13307]. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-6756-5p was significantly downregulated in the peripheral blood of patients with sepsis compared to healthy controls, as validated by RT-qPCR [Xu et al.
