A study in healthy human volunteers demonstrated that the mir-676-3p increased 2.99-fold in serum following recreational alcohol consumption, with this change being statistically significant [Ten Berg et al. DOI:10.1080/1354750X.2018.1499128]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-676-3p is a radiation-sensitive miRNA in peripheral blood leukocytes, showing a positive linear correlation with irradiation dose at 48 hours post-exposure [Li et al. DOI:10.1177/15593258221123679]. In a separate investigation, the mir-676-3p was identified as a tissue injury marker, being downregulated in the irradiated lung tissue of both C3H and C57Bl/6 mouse strains following whole thorax irradiation [Rogers et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0232411].
