A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-129-1-3p is differentially expressed in monozygotic twin pairs, with 545 miRNAs showing differential expression across 18 pairs, and qRT-PCR validation confirmed consistent expression patterns for selected miRNAs including the miR-129-1-3p [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003]. In methamphetamine neurotoxicity research, the miR-129-1-3p is up-regulated in SH-SY5Y cells treated with METH and is sponged by circ_0015891, implicating it in dopaminergic apoptosis pathways [Xu et al. DOI:10.1007/S10571-023-01323-X].
