A study in rats demonstrated that the mir-129-2 is a differentially expressed microRNA in cavernous nerve injury erectile dysfunction (CNI-ED) [Huang et al. DOI:10.1080/21655979.2021.1973863]. In spinal cord injury (SCI) research, the mir-129-2 is downregulated in rodent models, and its expression correlates with functional recovery scores, suggesting a role in pathophysiology and potential as a severity correlate [Nieto-Diaz et al. DOI:10.3389/fncel.2014.00053]. In human postmortem prefrontal cortex, the mir-129-2 was found to be down-regulated in subjects with schizophrenia [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0086469].
