Forensic Context

A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-129-2-3p is a differentially expressed miRNA in cavernous nerve injury erectile dysfunction, predicted to be sponged by multiple circRNAs including circRNA2981, circRNA2982, circRNA2983, circRNA2986, circRNA3009, and ciRNA351, and to target 45 mRNAs within a constructed ceRNA network [Huang et al. DOI:10.1080/21655979.2021.1973863]. In human cardiomyopathy research, the miR-129-2-3p was predicted as a significant post-transcriptional regulator of hub genes and a predictive biomarker for heart failure disorders through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing data [Rahman et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-78011-3]. A study in human postmortem prefrontal cortex demonstrated that the miR-129-2-3p was down-regulated in schizophrenia subjects with a fold-change of 0.74 [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0086469], while a separate investigation in human blood samples from monozygotic twins identified the miR-129-2-3p as differentially expressed, being shared across two pairs of twins [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003].
