A study in humans identified the mir-6842-3p as significantly downregulated in the plasma of coronary artery disease patients compared to normal coronary artery controls, ranking it among the top ten downregulated microRNAs [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020]. In a separate study of human newborns, the mir-6842-3p was also found to be downregulated in the plasma of asphyxiated infants at 0–6 hours of age compared to healthy controls [Lai et al.
