A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like the miR-6857-3p showing altered expression in human skin tissue post-burn and in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in humans identified 181 differentially expressed circulating miRNAs in plasma from acute myocardial infarction patients, with the miR-6857-3p being one of the top ten downregulated miRNAs [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23099].
