A study in human postmortem serum demonstrated that exosomes and exosomal miRNAs, including the miR-6880-5p, are stably preserved for at least three days when stored at or below 20°C [Kanno et al. DOI:10.1007/S00414-022-02913-Y]. In this research, exosomal miRNA profiling of serum from acute myocardial infarction (AMI) cadavers identified the miR-6880-5p as significantly downregulated (3.21-fold) compared to hemorrhagic shock controls, and a separate review of human skin conditions also reported the miR-6880-5p as downregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al.
