Forensic Context

A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs showing altered expression in human skin tissue samples post-burn, during healing, and in hypertrophic scar tissue [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in rats demonstrated that the mir-708 was significantly upregulated in the dorsolateral striatum (DLS) of addiction-vulnerable animals compared to resilient controls, with no change observed in the dorsomedial striatum [Quinn et al. DOI:10.1038/Tp.2014.144]. In a separate rat model of contusion spinal cord injury, the mir-708 was found to be significantly downregulated one day post-injury [Hu et al. DOI:10.1089/neu.2012.2748].
