Forensic Context

A study in rats demonstrated that the mir-764 is differentially expressed in the brain during cocaine withdrawal, with rno-miR-764-5p being downregulated in the infralimbic prefrontal cortex when comparing 4-week abstinence to 18-hour withdrawal [Kumaresan et al. DOI:10.3390/Biomedicines11051368]. In human skin, hsa-miR-765, a related biomarker, is upregulated in deep partial thickness burn skin four days post-burn and in burn hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. In a separate rat model of oleic acid-induced acute lung injury, the mir-764 was also observed as a potential biomarker, showing a 2.85-fold upregulation at 3 and 6 hours post-challenge [Lee et al. DOI:10.3892/Mmr.2014.2155].
