A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-942 was differentially expressed in the whole blood of severely injured trauma patients compared to healthy controls and showed a direct correlation with TLR3 gene expression (P < .01) [Uhlich et al. DOI:10.1016/j.surg.2014.06.017]. In a separate study on human aortic endothelial cells, the mir-942 was identified as a mechanistic biomarker, being repressed at specific dose-time points (4 Gy-24h, 4 Gy-72h, 8 Gy-72h) following X-ray irradiation, with its target mRNA PLTP induced [Chopra et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-24051-6].
