A study in human myocardial autopsy specimens demonstrated that hsa-miR-98-5p was upregulated in the left ventricular tissue of patients deceased with sepsis compared to non-septic controls [Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-98-3p is upregulated in the hippocampus and nucleus accumbens of individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and was confirmed in the amygdala and hippocampus of AUD subjects by an in vitro model using ethanol-exposed human embryonic stem cell-derived cortical interneurons [Lim et al. DOI:10.1038/s41398-021-01635-w].
