A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with the miR-1-3p being mentioned in introductory discussion but not experimentally studied in the reviewed literature [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A separate forensic study in humans established a multi-class support vector machine classification model using 12 key miRNA markers for body fluid identification, which did not include the miR-1-3p [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2024.103180]. A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-1-3p was significantly upregulated in plasma from patients with coronary artery disease compared to normal controls, identifying it as a potential diagnostic biomarker [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020]. In a separate forensic investigation, the miR-1-3p was found to be differentially expressed in blood samples between individuals within monozygotic twin pairs, suggesting its potential utility for distinguishing genetically identical individuals in forensic identification [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003].
