Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-140-3p was significantly down-regulated in myocardial tissue from deceased septic patients compared to non-septic controls in postmortem analyses [Pasi Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. A study in rats demonstrated that rno-miR-140-3p was one of the most highly expressed miRNAs in both heart failure and control left ventricular tissues, as identified through high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analysis in a post-infarction heart failure model [Liu et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0160920]. The review of ionizing radiation injury biomarkers reported that the miR-140-3p is among the five most highly expressed miRNAs in human lung tissue, based on analyses of tissue distribution [Jia and Wang DOI:10.3389/fcell.2022.861451].
