A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-141-3p shows higher relative expression in menstrual blood compared to peripheral blood, making it useful for distinguishing these two forensically relevant body fluids [Li et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-021-02678-w]. In a separate review of human skin pathology, the miR-141-3p was found to be downregulated in venous ulcers compared to normal skin and acute wounds and was also downregulated in deep partial thickness burn skin four days post-injury [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100].
