Forensic Context

A study in human myocardial autopsy specimens demonstrated that the miR-146b-5p was significantly up-regulated in septic hearts compared to non-septic controls, showing the highest fold change among differentially expressed miRNAs [Pasi Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. A study in humans and mice demonstrated that miR-146b-5p is a consistent marker of antidepressant response, showing downregulation in peripheral blood of responders to various antidepressants and placebo, and upregulation in the ventrolateral prefrontal cortex of depressed suicide completers [Lopez et al. DOI:10.1038/ncomms15497].
