A study in humans identified the mir-149-5p as downregulated in venous ulcers versus normal skin and acute wounds and downregulated 24 hours post-injury in skin wounds versus unwounded skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-149-5p is a downregulated apoptosis-related miRNA in myocardial tissue whose expression shows a consistent decline with increasing post-mortem interval, validated by qRT-PCR, and exhibits a significant linear correlation with PMI (Y = 0.4702 × X + 3.141, p=0.0067) [Lee et al. DOI:10.1016/j.forsciint.2025.112473].
