A study in human postmortem brain tissue from individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) demonstrated that the miR-151a-5p was differentially expressed in the prefrontal cortex [Lim et al. DOI:10.1038/s41398-021-01635-w]. In a separate forensic investigation, the miR-151a-5p was mentioned as an age-related microRNA marker present in multiple studies, though with controversial age-related changes, and was not experimentally studied in that cohort [Gao et al. DOI:10.1002/elps.8133].
