A study in human embryonic stem cell-derived cortical interneurons demonstrated that the mir-151b was upregulated following ethanol exposure, identifying it as part of an alcohol-influenced miRNA-mRNA regulatory network [Lim et al. Separately, an analysis of human blood samples from monozygotic twins identified the mir-151b as differentially expressed and shared across three pairs of twins, suggesting its potential utility as a biomarker for distinguishing genetically identical individuals in forensic identification [Xiao et al.
