A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with the miR-100-5p being downregulated 24 hours post-injury in skin wounds versus unwounded skin and also downregulated post-burn in heat-shocked fibroblasts [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-100-5p was downregulated in the peripheral blood of female mice at 60 minutes following an 8 g/kg oral dose of methanol [Gunay et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Fct.2023.113666].
