Forensic Context

A study in humans identified hsa-miR-18b-5p as a miRNA with a potential regulatory role in sepsis, where it was part of a constructed competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network and was predicted to interact with the core gene IL1R2 [Zhang et al. DOI:10.1186/s12920-023-01460-8]. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-18b-5p is a circulating injury marker differentially expressed in plasma with a similar temporal profile in both C3H and C57Bl/6 strains following whole thorax irradiation [Rogers et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0232411].
