Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-181a-3p was upregulated in whole blood of patients with recurrent myocardial infarction after percutaneous coronary intervention, showing differential expression in both initial and replication cohorts and an association with the prevention of endothelial cell activation via NF-κB signaling [Onuoha et al. DOI:10.1111/cts.13307]. In a separate human postmortem investigation, the miR-181a-3p was found to be down-regulated in myocardial tissue from deceased septic patients compared to non-septic controls, identified among 32 differentially expressed miRNAs [Pasi Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6].
