A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like the mir-181b-2 being upregulated 6 hours post-burn in heat-shocked skin epidermal stem cells versus controls [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. In a separate human study on heart failure, hsa-miR-181b-3p expression was investigated as a potential biomarker for sacubitril/valsartan resistance, though its qRT-PCR validation results were inconsistent with initial microarray data [Su et al. DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.175547]. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-181b-2 was significantly downregulated in patients with coronary artery disease compared to normal coronary artery controls, as identified through RNA sequencing and validated by qRT-PCR [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020]. In mice, the mir-181b-2 was identified as one of the top 20 most abundant known miRNAs in the thymus, and its expression profile was characterized in response to ionizing radiation-induced injury [Chen et al. DOI:10.1080/09553002.2016.1207821].
