A study in young human patients with acute coronary syndrome demonstrated that plasma miR-183-5p was significantly up-regulated (8-fold) in NSTEMI patients and exhibited high discriminatory power for differentiating NSTEMI from healthy controls with an AUC of 0.917 [Tong et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms19051467]. In a separate study of severely injured human trauma patients, the mir-183 showed an indirect correlation with TLR4 gene expression [Uhlich et al.
