Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-184 was differentially expressed, being downregulated in sepsis versus healthy controls and in septic shock versus healthy controls [Li et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-025-89946-6]. In a separate study in Sprague-Dawley rats, the mir-184 was upregulated 10.50-fold in burn and 17.73-fold in hindlimb unloading, and was associated with decreased expression of its target genes *obp3* and *chad* [Song et al. DOI:10.1097/BCR.0000000000000444]. A study in rats demonstrated that the expression level of the mir-184 in serum significantly decreased following a burn injury, with lower levels correlating with greater burn severity and longer post-burn time, showing positive correlations with burn degree (r=0.901) and time after burn (r=0.732) [Xu et al. DOI:10.3892/etm.2019.7578].
