A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-187-3p is part of a serum miRNA signature that distinguishes sublethal from lethal total body irradiation within 24 hours and correlates with survival outcomes, with its levels shifting in response to radioprotective or mitigative interventions [Acharya et al. A study in Sprague-Dawley rats identified 68 differentially expressed microRNAs in the corpus cavernosum of obese animals with erectile dysfunction, including the miR-187-3p which was downregulated 0.62-fold [Bai et al.
