A study in Sprague-Dawley rats identified 68 differentially expressed miRNAs in the corpus cavernosum of obese rats with erectile dysfunction, where the mir-187 was downregulated 0.62-fold [Bai et al. DOI:10.1016/j.esxm.2017.06.006]. A review of human skin burns and wound healing reported that hsa-miR-187-3p was downregulated 0.62-fold in the corpus cavernosum of obese rats with erectile dysfunction and is also downregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue versus normal skin in humans [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-187 was significantly upregulated in the traumatized cortex following controlled cortical impact-induced traumatic brain injury, with an 8.82-fold increase observed during secondary contusion expansion [Meissner et al. DOI:10.1089/neu.2015.4077].
