Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-190a was significantly downregulated in plasma from patients with isolated spinal cord injury (SCI) at emergency room admission compared to healthy controls, and this suppression was markedly stronger in SCI patients than in polytrauma patients without neurotrauma [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-190a was identified as dysregulated by RNA-seq in ischemic heart tissue following myocardial infarction, though it was not previously linked to MI [Williams et al. DOI:10.1152/physiolgenomics.00041.2020]. In a separate review, the mir-190a was also reported as upregulated in the penis of diabetic erectile dysfunction mouse models based on microarray screening [Song et al. DOI:10.3389/fendo.2022.1034043].
