A study in human forensic body fluids demonstrated that mir-191 exhibits high goodness-of-fit (R² > 0.95) in degradation kinetics across all samples and shows slower degradation in peripheral blood compared to other fluids [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.forsciint.2025.112683]. In a separate forensic investigation of aged polyvinyl-alcohol gloves from gunshot victims, mir-191 was validated as the most stably expressed endogenous control for normalizing blood- and brain-specific miRNA expression data in forensic samples [Grabmüller et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-017-1687-2]. A study in the Chinese Han population demonstrated that the mir-191 was the most suitable reference gene, showing favorable stability across venous blood, menstrual blood, saliva, semen, and vaginal secretions when evaluated using ΔCq, BestKeeper, NormFinder, and geNorm algorithms integrated by RefFinder [Wang et al. DOI:10.1002/elps.202000058].
