Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-192-5p was significantly upregulated in circulating T cells during the injury stage compared to the recovery stage in major trauma patients [Rau et al. DOI:10.2147/JIR.S375881]. In mice, serum mmu-miR-192-5p expression was significantly increased on day three only after lethal (10 Gy) total body irradiation, with its upregulation alleviated by amifostine pretreatment correlating with improved survival [Jia et al. DOI:10.1016/j.toxlet.2024.07.911]. A study in mice demonstrated that deep sequencing of thymus tissue following 4Gy whole-body ionizing radiation identified 112 differentially expressed miRNAs, including 45 known and 67 novel miRNAs, with 77 up-regulated and 35 down-regulated [Chen et al. DOI:10.1080/09553002.2016.1207821].
