Forensic Context

A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-192-5p is a specific biomarker for lethal radiation injury, showing a 2.14-fold increase in serum on day 3 after a 10 Gy total body irradiation, correlating negatively with lymphocyte counts and returning to sham-like levels with amifostine pretreatment, which improved survival [Jia et al. DOI:10.1016/j.toxlet.2024.07.911]. In human newborns, research on perinatal asphyxia found that the miR-192-5p was selected for validation but showed no significant differential expression at 0–6 hours of age between asphyxiated and control groups [Lai et al. DOI:10.1016/j.pedneo.2024.05.002].
