Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-196b was downregulated 4 days post-burn in deep partial thickness burn skin compared to normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100] and was also downregulated 4 hours post-burn in heat-shocked fibroblasts versus a sham group [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. In a separate investigation of human serum exosomes, the mir-196b was identified as differentially expressed and was downregulated in sepsis patients compared to healthy controls [Li et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-025-89946-6]. A study in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) demonstrated that the mir-196b was utilized as a feature in a Day 3 dose-prediction model and a Day 6 pleural effusion prediction model stratified by gender following whole thorax irradiation [May et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-16316-x].
