A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-196b-5p was identified as a differentially expressed microRNA downregulated in patients with sepsis compared to healthy controls [Li et al. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-196b-5p is upregulated in irradiated lung tissue of both C3H and C57Bl/6 strains, identifying it as a tissue injury marker for late radiation-induced lung damage [Rogers et al.
