A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-20a is a highly over-expressed miRNA marker for venous blood identification, confirmed by RT-PCR validation [Zubakov et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-009-0402-3]. Separately, research in human serum identified the mir-20a as being upregulated in patients with mild traumatic brain injury at baseline compared to controls [Polito et al. DOI:10.1007/s11033-020-05386-7].
