Forensic Context

A study in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells demonstrated that the mir-20b was upregulated at a 1 Gy radiation dose, cooperating with miR-17-5p and predicted to interact with and downregulate many target genes, with enrichment in the thyroid cancer pathway via TCF7 [Lee et al. DOI:10.1155/2014/456323]. In a separate human study using peripheral whole blood, the mir-20b was significantly negatively correlated with age in a microarray cohort [Meder et al. DOI:10.1373/clinchem.2014.224238]. A study in human clinical samples demonstrated that the mir-20b showed statistically significant expression differences (P<0.001) between vaginal fluid, fertile semen, and infertile semen (oligospermia and azoospermia), with the highest mean expression in fertile semen [Shimaa Ahmed Alsaeed et al. DOI:10.1007/s12024-024-00831-6].
