Forensic Context

A study in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells demonstrated that the miR-20b-5p was upregulated at 1 Gy following fractionated radiation exposure and cooperated with miR-17-5p to downregulate target genes, with enrichment in the thyroid cancer pathway via TCF7 [Lee et al. DOI:10.1155/2014/456323]. In forensic science, a multi-class support vector machine model for body fluid identification, validated on human samples, did not include the miR-20b-5p among its 12 selected key miRNA features [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2024.103180]. In human plasma, the miR-20b-5p was observed to be upregulated during acute myocardial infarction followed by a decline after revascularization [Wang et al. DOI:10.1186/s40364-024-00690-x].
