A study in humans using whole miRNome massively parallel sequencing identified the miR-203b-5p as one of nine selected miRNA markers for body fluid identification, where its presence helped distinguish between semen and vaginal secretion samples based on regression coefficients in a model with a cross-validation accuracy of 0.93 [Dørum et al.
