A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-211 was downregulated in denatured dermis from deep partial thickness burn patients compared to paired normal skin, with a 0.0725-fold decrease measured by microarray and validated via RT-PCR [Liang et al. DOI:10.1016/j.burns.2011.10.014]. This differential expression was part of a broader profiling effort that identified 66 miRNAs altered in burn wounds, with the mir-211 specifically noted among the downregulated species [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-211 was significantly downregulated in serum during the early phase (log2 fold change = -7.21) following lethal total body irradiation (9.75 Gy) [Chakraborty et al.
