A study in humans identified the miR-106a-3p as a biomarker for recurrent myocardial infarction risk, where it was downregulated in both plasma and whole blood of patients with recurrent MI compared to stable CAD patients after PCI, with p<0.05 in both sample types though it did not remain significant after FDR correction in plasma [Onuoha et al.
