Forensic Context

A study in human formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded brain tissue demonstrated that the miR-222-5p was initially selected as a candidate based on literature review but was not among the final three miRNAs studied in the entire cohort of fatal traumatic brain injuries [Bonin et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms241310836]. A study in Wistar rats demonstrated that the miR-222-5p was significantly upregulated (fold change 2.538488173) in skeletal muscles at day 3 post-thermal injury compared to controls, identifying it as a potential biomarker for skeletal muscle wasting in burn trauma [Zhang et al. DOI:10.5505/tjtes.2015.80707].
