A study in human postmortem serum demonstrated that exosomes and exosomal miRNAs, including the miR-23b-5p, are stably preserved for at least three days when stored at or below 20°C [Kanno et al. DOI:10.1007/S00414-022-02913-Y]. A separate study in living human patients using plasma exosomal miRNA sequencing for AMI diagnosis also identified the miR-23b-5p as an intermediate-abundance miRNA that was upregulated in the coronary artery disease group compared to the AMI group [Guo et al. DOI:10.21037/atm-20-2337].
