A study in human organ tissues from medico-legal autopsies evaluated the miR-26b-3p as a candidate reference gene for miRNA qPCR normalization in forensic organ tissue identification, finding it to be among the least stable genes in pooled sample analysis and thus excluding it from the final recommended panel [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2014.08.005]. A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-26b-3p is a predicted target of the heroin-responsive circular RNA circGrin2b, with a predicted binding site at one sponge site [Floris et al.
