Forensic Context

A study in humans evaluating candidate reference genes for miRNA qPCR normalization in forensic organ tissue identification found that the miR-26b-5p was among the least stable genes in a pooled sample set and was consequently excluded from further analysis [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2014.08.005]. Another study in humans investigating miRNA-mRNA interactome dysregulation in circulating T cells following major trauma demonstrated that the miR-26b-5p was significantly upregulated during the injury stage compared to the recovery stage, though it formed no connections to downregulated mRNA targets in the constructed network [Rau et al. DOI:10.2147/JIR.S375881].
