Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-29c-3p is altered in the cerebrospinal fluid and saliva of pediatric traumatic brain injury patients [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.neuint.2023.105643], and separate research in human skin showed it is downregulated in deep partial thickness burn skin four days post-injury compared to normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-29c-3p is significantly upregulated in the plasma of adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) patients compared to healthy controls and sepsis patients, with its level being significantly higher in AOSD patients with myalgia [Hu et al. DOI: 10.3389/fimmu.2018.03099]. Furthermore, a separate review of human and animal studies reported that the miR-29c-3p is altered in the cerebrospinal fluid and saliva of pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients [Li et al. DOI: 10.1016/j.neuint.2023.105643].
