A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-297 was significantly upregulated in skeletal muscle at 24 hours postmortem with a fold change of 187.25, indicating its dysregulation during the early postmortem interval [Guardado-Estrada et al. DOI:10.7717/peerj.15409]. In a separate investigation in rats, the miR-297 was also found to be upregulated 1.57-fold in the corpus cavernosum of obese rats with erectile dysfunction, suggesting a potential role in this pathophysiological condition [Bai et al. DOI:10.1016/j.esxm.2017.06.006].
