Forensic Context

A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-30c-2 is significantly downregulated during all stages of myocardial infarction and exerts anti-apoptotic effects in cardiomyocytes by directly targeting the pro-apoptotic genes Picalm and Skil [Kim et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-018-33020-x]. In human patients with acute spinal cord injury, plasma levels of the mir-30c-2 were downregulated at emergency room admission and showed a divergent regulatory pattern compared to polytrauma patients without neurotrauma [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. A study in mice and human CD34+ hematopoietic cells demonstrated that the mir-30c-2 is upregulated in a radiation dose-dependent manner and directly targets the antiapoptotic factor Mcl-1 via binding to its 3' UTR, promoting apoptosis [Li et al. DOI:10.1007/s10495-016-1238-1].
